My Declaration of Independence Blog

REMEMBER: THIS IS PUBLIC DOMAIN--DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO SEE.
Consider a relationship or membership that you currently have but would like to separate yourself from (it can be fictionalized) such as a relationship to significant others, siblings, parents, coaches, bosses or memberships to sports teams, clubs, community service groups, areas of employment, etc. Please do not use your membership to this class. Follow the outline below as you organize your persuasive declaration.

Be sure to consider your audience and eliminate any language too incendiary or ineffective. When you persuade, use rhetorical devices such as logos (appeals to logic), pathos (appeals to emotion), ethos (appeals to ethics), repetition, parallel structure, metaphor, allusions, simile, alliteration, hyperbole, rhetorical questions, and loaded word choice (connotation). Please use at least four of these devices (one must be an appeal to logic and one must be an appeal to emotion).

In order to be taken seriously, you must also revise your blog for grammatical and mechanical errors. Your declaration blog should be around 200-250 words. Be prepared to present your declaration blog to the class.
Please write your first and last name and period on the top of your post.

I. State the present condition/status of your relationship.
II. List your grievances against the person/group you are parting from.
III. Declare your new rights as an independent person.
